TAKE ACTION:
Tell the Department of Interior to reform the broken oil and gas leasing program
Fossil fuels have exacted an enormous toll on our environment by accelerating global warming, polluting our air and water, and impacting our public health. The fossil fuel industry has also extracted record profits at the expense of taxpayers and our shared resources, with little to no accountability.
The Department of the Interior (DOI) continues offering public lands for oil and gas leasing and drilling; nearly half a million acres of public lands across the West are included in lease sales scheduled for this Spring.
Before any new lease sales occur, the DOI must build on the reforms passed in the historic climate bill (Inflation Reduction Act), take critical measures, and make overdue changes to fix the broken oil and gas program so it can work for everyone, not just oil and gas CEOs.
Please send a message to the Department of Interior asking them to make oil and gas companies responsible for cleaning up their own mess after drilling!
